Boy Scouts of America Mission Statement

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by

Troop 7 Announcements

Week of January 22, 2012

 

RECHARTER FOR TROOP 7:  DUE  FEB 7

It is time for us to go through the yearly process of “re-chartering” our troop.  This process involves verifying vital statistics for each member (name/address/phone number) and

paying our council for every member that wishes to be active in Troop 7 for 2012.

  Re-charter fees will be $50 for each scout and $20 for each Registered Adult—Due Feb 7.

 If members do not “re-charter” then they are dropped from our Troop 7 roster.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Tues  Jan 24: 

  • Troop Meeting 7:00-8:30 pm CPC Church Fellowship Hall

  • Scout Skills: Plant Identification by the Beaver Patrol

  • Service Patrol (set-up/flag/clean-up):  Beaver

  • Parent meeting for Pasta Dinner:  We need parents to volunteer for specific shifts of work during the Pasta Dinner

  • Pasta Dinner Ticket Distribution:  Each scout will be given tickets to sell for our upcoming fundraiser.  $7/adult dinner; $5/child dinner (Point of Contact is Jamie Denton)

Sun Jan 29: 

  • Court of Honor. Community Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.  Practice for those with speaking parts 3:00 PM;  Set up refreshments 3:30 PM;  Ceremony 4:00-5:00 PM. Uniform is Class As with neckerchief, slide, and SASH!

  • Every scout to bring a refreshment  for 10 people according to the following list: Hawk 1&2 Chips;  Panther 1 &2 Cookies;  Beavers/Ferrets  Drinks 

Sun Feb 5: 

  • Scout Sunday.  This is when Troop 7 attends church together at Community Presbyterian Church in order to celebrate the Birthday of Boy Scouts in America.  Troop 7’s goal is 100% participation this year. There are services at 9:00 am or 11:00 am.  Scouts will be participating in the services in various roles.  Sign-up continue this week. Questions may be directed to Bob Baer (adult Troop Chaplain) or Jack V. (scout chaplain).

Friday-Sunday Feb 17-20:  

  • Washington DC Trip.  Trip Advisor Dave Lamblin;  Trip Master Jacob D.  Trip limited to 1st Class and above/no more than 16 scouts. $50 and permission slip due  Jan 31.

 

Saturday, February 25:  Troop 7 Annual Pasta Dinner Fund Raiser  

  • Deadline for Ad sales is  Jan 24th.  Donated items can be accepted up to Jan 31st.

  • Ticket sales for the Pasta Dinner will Tuesday!  We are in the process of having scouts sign-up for specific jobs at the dinner.  Parent meeting for specific adult assignment schedule will be on Jan 24.

COMMUNITY SERVICE 

  • Every Wednesday:  Food Pantry 8-11 AM (primarily for home schooled students)

 

Feb 17-18  Camilla Festival:

  • Assembly Hall in Pinehurst Village.  Scout Volunteers needed Friday afternoon for set up:  after school until 4:30pm.  Also, on Saturday from 9am-5pm.  Scouts can sign up for a shift (9-noon; noon -3pm; or 3-5pm)

Point of Contact is Bob Boone.  Sign-ups in progress.

 

A REQUEST FROM YOUR HISTORIAN:  Thomas M.  is finishing the scrap book for June1-Dec 31, 2011.  He needs photos from the 20 mile hike, snake farm campout, and any service projects scouts did (this includes Eagle Projects).
