Boy Scouts of America Mission Statement

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by

instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Vision Statement

The Boy Scouts of America is the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training.

In the future Scouting will continue to:

Instill in young people lifetime values and develop in them ethical character as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law;

Train young people in citizenship, service, and leadership;

Serve America's communities and families with its quality, values-based program.

 

 

 

Troop 7 Announcements

March 10th, 2010

·         Stony Brook Run for the Ribbons 5K. Contact Alex Snyder for information.

·         Time for the 2010/2011 Troop re-charter. Youth registration is $40 and adult is $15.

·         Merit Badge Book Drive:  Please bring in any Merit Badge books to Derek C. Library request form is now on the Troop website. Soon to be posted is a listing of all available books.

·         Uniform Drive: Please bring your old/unused uniforms to Korbin H. to help new scouts save money.

·         Philmont trip, summer 2011.  June 16th – 29. Slots available for 4 Adults and 8 Scouts.

·         PERSONAL MANAGEMENT: Print out your merit badge application form and MB worksheets. 

·         2010 Jamboree:  A Day trip is set for July 30th. Signup sheet at troop meeting.  Contact Mr. Kevin Stewart for more information.

 

March Activities

·         Mar 10th PLC meeting. Main subjects are Court Of Honor and next years calendar event selections.

·         Mar 17th 6pm Scott E's Eagle ceremony at CPC.  All are welcome to attend.

·         Mar 19-21 Washington DC trip

·         Mar 23rd Webelo Cross-over ceremony. Starts 5pm Tuesday at CPC.

 

April Activities

·         Apr 3rd, Saturday. Stony Brook Run for the Ribbons 5K.

·         Apr 14th PLC meeting

·         Apr 17-18 Troop camping with new cross-over scouts.

·         Apr 22nd, OA tap-out and flag retirement ceremony. Thursday night, 7pm, at LDS. Bring chair for seating.

·         Apr 25th COH

·         Apr 28th Troop elections

 

OA Activities

·         Mar 19-21 spring Pow-Wow

·         Mar 25th next OA meeting at LDS

·         Apr 16-18 conclave (prepay at spring pow-wow).

·         Apr 22nd OA tap out/meeting 7pm at LDS

·         May 14-16 spring induction

ADULTS:

·         SM and ASM Leader Specific Training

o   April 10th. See below for more details.

o   April 17th. See below for more details. NEW

·         Wood Badge for the 21st  Century Adult Leadership Course for 2010  needs applicants. See the Scoutmaster for details and applications.

·         Adult trip advisers are needed for the calendar events. You do not have to go on the trip to be an adviser.

·         Committee meeting:  6:30pm Monday March 29, 2010 at the Scout Hut.
