Boy Scouts of America Mission Statement

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by

instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The Boy Scouts of America is the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training.

In the future Scouting will continue to:

Instill in young people lifetime values and develop in them ethical character as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law;

Train young people in citizenship, service, and leadership;

Tues May 14: Troop Meeting 7:00pm Community Presbyterian Fellowship Hall
Service Patrol: set-up/flags/clean-up: Panther 1
Troop Elections: Scouts elected today will TAKE OFFICE on JULY 1. Options are: Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Quartermaster, Guide, Instructor, Scribe, Historian, Chaplain, and a Patrol Leader for every patrol. Each Scout has a few moments to tell the troop why he would like to be elected to a specific position. Please be prepared to say something beyond "I need this for advancement". Any Scout interested in Assistant Senior Patrol Leader needs to speak to Mr. Brewton ahead of time.

 

Fri-Sun May 17-19: Huntington Beach Trip $50 Adult Advisor Sara Barton/Trip Master Andrew Barton. Trip is full for scouts - wait list is available. ADULT LEADERS NEEDED! Currently only 3 leaders signed up. Scout numbers will be decreased unless adult volunteers are secured.

CAMP DURANT UPDATE:
Scouts attending camp this summer July 7-13, Mr. Brewton needs your Merit Badge preferences. Fill out the form attached and return to Mr. Brewton. Final money due May 14th. Cost $100 per Scout. Please plan to attend the meeting May 14th at 8:30pm for parents and scouts.

 

ADDITIONAL SUMMER CAMP OPPORTUNITY:
Troop 8 in Robbins is offering our scouts the opportunity to attend Camp Durant with them June 23-29. Cost is $100 per Scout. If interested, please contact Cindy Little. Merit Badge preferences and money due by May 8th.
